100s of Hours from 100s of Volunteers Work to Produce our Home & Garden Tour

On Tuesday, May 19, CFUW Perth and District members joined with our Home and Garden Tour hosts, sponsors, artists and musicians at a reception celebrating the recipients of our 2026 bursaries.

In May, CFUW Perth & District held a gathering at the Perth Royal Canadian Legion to award $22,000 in bursaries to 10 incredible young women to help them with their post-secondary studies.

Our ability to do this is a direct result of the funds primarily raised through our annual Home & Garden Tour! To date, the club has awarded $294,025 to 224 young women from Perth and District to help them with their studies at universities and colleges.

This year’s impressive group of young women are studying in a diverse range of programs, including Registered Practical Nurse, Livestock Technician, Concurrent Education, Gender and Women’s Studies, Life Sciences and Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Criminology and Legal Studies, Psychology, Midwifery, and Arts and Sciences.

Meet three of our bursary award winners!

Leah Allen

Leah is a shining example of the talent we’re proud to support! Leah is going into her 4th year at Trent University, with the goal of going to law school upon graduation. She has received bursaries from us for her first, third, and fourth years of study.

Serena Scott

Serena is a shining example of the talent we’re proud to support! She received a $3,000 bursary last year and a $1,000 bursary this year. She is entering her second year of the Midwifery Program at McMaster University.

Alyssa Barber

Alyssa received the Don Sherwin Award in 2025 and a CFUW regular bursary in 2026. This fall, she’ll begin her second year in the Life Sciences and Biochemistry Program at Queen’s University.

We are grateful to our community partners for their generous support of the fundraising activities and to our event attendees which allow us to achieve our vision of supporting the advancement of girls and women through education and advocacy.

The funds we raise also fuel our local advocacy and education programs in libraries, community agencies, and schools.
